Laing Project

This job was fairly straight forward. Raise the level of the floor, install a step to the outside rear patio. All the walls were exposed brick, the walls were battoned, dry walled and plastered to a smooth finish, adding one or two power points along the way. The far wall was turned into a feature wall, building a light box with down lighters on a dimmer switch. Install downlighters in the ceiling also on a dimmer switch and plaster to a smooth finish. Install a new window shelf. Fully decorate the room. Finally, a solid oak floor was laid. The transformation was complete and made the room much larger, and with the lighting on two dimmable switches it was much easier to set the required mood for dinner parties which was the intended use. The project was scheduled to take 3 weeks, after the client requested one or two changes to the original plan, it took 3 weeks and 3 days

Ainsworth Project

To begin this project i had to remove a support wall in the middle of the two rooms to create a kitchen and open plan breakfast room. This involved using a steel in the cieling to support the rear of the house. The floor was a mix of wood and concrete, the concreted area was very uneven and needed screeding and raising in areas. this was so a porcelain floor could be laid. As the wooden floor were planks, it was neccessary to sheet over the existing floor with marine ply, screwed down at 6 inch centres. The tiled floor was laid using flexible adhesive and flexible grout to finish. Following the floor was the installation of the kitchen using granite work tops and a free hung extractor hood in the centre of the breakfast bar, the positioning of which was designed to draw guests towards the food preparation area. The project took just over three weeks to complete.
